Never Have I Ever

Never Have I Ever retells the story of “girl wants to have a normal high school experience” in a way that is surprisingly emotional. Was this show kind of similar to Booksmart? Absolutely! But it had some nice twists, which differentiated it from being a complete carbon copy. After the first couple of episodes, I didn’t really think it was worth watching, but the combination of the great character development and the intensity of the plot ultimately made it an easy binge. The way the series portrays how Devi is so determined to break free and be her own person, along with the undertone of strong family bonds is what makes this show enjoyable and emotional. This is another great show from Mindy Kaling, and I would highly recommend it to everyone.

logline: After her dad’s untimely death, Devi decides that she wants to be cool - by checking off all her high school to-do’s as fast as she can.

My favorite characters:

  • Jaren Lewison as Ben Gross - classic douchey rich kid with a twist! ben was annoying at first, but his eventual character arc was incredible and kind of really sad at points.

  • Benjamin Norris as Trent Harrison- man, this guy was just straight up hilarious. he was really stupid, but brought a great form of comedy. whenever i saw him in a scene, i hoped for another one of his iconic lines.

This show is rated TV-14. Here’s why:

  • Language

  • Underage alcohol and drug use

Something I liked: eleanor’s outfits!! wowowowowowowow they were so cool. I loved all of the different colors and patterns, and thought it was really cool how it all came together.
