Gossip Girl

You know those teen shows usually marked as “trashy” but you can’t help but watch them? Gossip Girl is like the pinnacle of these shows for me. I always mouth the intro along with Kristen Bell. I think it’s funny how the CW stays true to their brand and has a new “villain” every season, just like their superhero shows. Even though the acting may not be amazing and sometimes it feels like any other teen show, any OG fan of the series knows it as their guilty (or not so guilty) pleasure. If you’re looking for a show similar to Pretty Little Liars or The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl is the show for you.

logline: The trust-funded teens of New York City’s Upper East Side are unable to hide their secrets, no matter how well they’re buried. An anonymous blogger named “Gossip Girl” is watching their lives, from their relationships, to their money, to their families.

My favorite characters:

  • Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf - even though she’s known as “the drama queen”, it has the word queen in there for a reason. I love every one of her schemes and takedowns, and her love for audrey hepburn and fairytales makes her even better.

  • Blake Lively as Serena Van Der Woodsen - you can’t help but love serena. she’s nice to everyone, but for some reason she always gets targeted. even though she’s the “nice girl”, i love the parts of the show where they kind of explore her darker side, and go into her past.

This show is rated TV-14. Here’s why:

  • Underage Drug and Alcohol Use

  • Language throughout

  • Sexual References

Fun Fact: The Gossip Girl reboot has been confirmed for spring 2020. It is unclear if any of the original cast will return, but the new series will be centered around a new group of rich kids in NYC. It will be released on HBO Max.
