MatPat and Steph (The Game Theorists)

speaking as a 7-year game/film theory fan, this one was a LONNNG time coming. now before i have people coming for me, in no way am i a gamer, but i still pretend i know what mat and steph are talking about. speaking of talking, matthew talks like a madman and i LOVE it. all of the theories have been intricately crafted, and you can tell that a lot of time, effort, and research has been poured into every video. in every single theory, his ranting is so aggressive and that brings me a lot of joy for absolutely no reason. just to let everyone know HOW old of a fan i am, the first GT i watched was a TF2 theory. (yes, it was the pyro episode.) watching the evolution of the channel is definitely kind of crazy, and (not to get into nostalgic territory) it makes me happy to think that i’ve been along for (most of) the ride.

can we talk about gt live for a little? normally, i’m not big on watching streams, and wouldn’t spend 1-2 hours watching people play games, but mat and steph make it so entertaining. yes, these are hours i will never get back, but i am not upset about this one bit! some of my favorite games that i’ve seen them play are:

also, i’m painfully aware that they’ve played sequels to some of these games, but have YET to watch them because i unfortunately cannot waste my life away watching GT live. they’re just so fun and i want to watch every single one, but alas, i cannot. since we’re in quarantine, and everyone’s got a little more time on their hands, i would suggest watching a few! they’re also great background noise for your household chores and homework :)

i’m not gonna lie to you guys, i kind of wish mat and steph were my parents. sorry, mom and dad. they’re so funny, and i feel like they’re one of the more genuine youtubers on the platform. TW: s*icide. if you didn’t already know, one of their original editors, ronnie edwards, committed suicide in july of 2018. a beautiful tribute video was made, and mat really put out a good message, which was very important especially at that time, where talking about mental health was still kind of taboo and not talked about enough. constantly putting out new (and quality) content is not easy, and as the landscape of gaming changes, mat and steph have always come out on top.
