i got so so hype for this movie, which was probably my first mistake. i loved the first wonder woman, and i love the 80s, so i went in with high hopes. the acting was great, especially from ms. gadot, who was incredible as always. i think seeing more of young diana would have been cool because lilly aspell was kicking ass, but it probably wouldn’t have done much for the plot. chris pine was hot as always in a “i’m clueless about everything in the modern world but i still managed to get through almost a whole day alone” kind of way. most of the characters and their developments were pretty okay, but nothing ground-breaking. i’m not gonna lie, they did barbara/cheetah so dirty with that ending. SPOILERS - why don’t we get to figure out what happens to her? we don’t really get a conclusion to her story, which was incredibly unsatisfying. they didn’t put enough time into the characters. it was pretty obvious that the majority of the time was put into the visuals, especially that plane scene with the fireworks, which was absolutely stunning. ww84 was a really fun watch, i just wish the plot and characters were better. with a steady plot, this movie could’ve been as good as the first, but unfortunately, it just doesn’t stack up to the original.

my favorite characters:

  • Chris Pine as Steve Trevor - besides the fact that chris pine is 1000% FIIIINE, he is also my second favorite chris purely because of how he plays steve trevor. there is also a very big possibility that i am a simp for steve’s that fight in world wars. steve was so sweet, and a good voice of reason when diana let her judgement get clouded.

this movie is rated PG-13. here’s why:

  • Suggestive Content

  • Mild Violence

  • Mild Language

something i liked: you already know what i’m gonna say, don’t you? the 80’s vibe is IMMACULATE!! DAMN!! i f*cking loved all the bright colors and music choices. the costume choices were especially good. i loved all of diana’s and steve’s fits, especially those parachute pants. although the movie wasn’t really about the time period, if i’m being completely honest, it was a big part of why i decided to watch it in the first place. i was really happy to see that they pulled off the execution, and that it wasn’t trying too hard with the 80s theme.

where to watch: it’s still in theaters, but if you go see it, make sure you’re staying safe and wearing your mask! it’s also on HBO Max, of course, but only until january 25, so watch it while you can!
