so i was expecting this movie to be just one giant cliche. I wasn’t….wrong, per say, but it was actually surprisingly good, no matter how predictable it was! There is always the possibility that i’m just a sucker for the ‘teen movie’, but work it made me genuinely happy, and i had a good time watching it. The characters were likeable, the storyline was simple (but not boring), and there’s a perfect amount of conflict. I feel like a lot of people are kind of sleeping on this movie. Don’t get me wrong, it’s got plenty of fans, but lots of people are skipping it because they think it looks ‘dumb’, whatever the heck that means. Sure, it’s no Inception, but not every movie has to make you ponder the meaning of life for hours after you watch it. Work it is simply a feel-good movie, helping to boost your confidence and employ the message of perseverance. If you saw this on your Netflix recommended, and thought “nah, this looks boring”, give it a try! You might end up liking it more than expected.

My Favorite Characters:

  • Jordan Fisher as Jake Taylor - jordan fisher is taking over the ‘teenage heartthrob’ world, and i am….not mad about it. i’ve loved him since his disney channel days, and he is so so so talented. AND he’s incredibly gorgeous.

  • Keiynan Lonsdale as Juilliard Pembroke - i aspire to have juilliard’s confidence level. he is an icon to the highest degree. he’s very aware of his talent, and rightfully so, because he’s an amazing dancer.

This movie is rated TV-14. Here’s why:

  • Mild Language

  • Sexual References

Something I liked: in this household, we stan the soundtrack for Work It. it has no business being that GOOD. it’s super upbeat and will 100% make you want to dance (duh). there are also some hidden gems in there, so enjoy those!
