Ah, my former favorite Harry Potter movie. Goblet of Fire is actually quite a good movie. It’s got plenty of action, it’s aesthetically pleasing, and the actors, as always, were great in their roles. GoF is a much more action-driven movie, with less focus on the characters and less dialogue than its predecessors. Sure, there are a few good moments of character development, but the focal point of the movie is the danger that the characters are being put in. I mean, I can’t complain. The first event in the Triwizard tournament - being chased around by a freaking dragon - is fun to watch. Even right from the beginning, with the Quidditch World Cup being crashed by the Death Eaters, ooh yes. I could honestly talk about these action sequences forever. And the cinematography?? Blessed my freaking eyeballs. One of my favorite parts of the movie is the Yule Ball. If you’ve seen the movie, you know why. It is so so so beautiful and 10 year old me watching was 1000% praying that my prom/homecoming would look like this. 16 year old me is still praying that next year we’ll be out of the quarantine and that prom will look like the Yule Ball. This movie is on the more ~edgy~ side, with the first PG-13 rating to pop up for the HP Universe, but it’s well worth it. If you’re looking for less talking and more fighting, Goblet of Fire is the movie for you.

My Favorite Characters:

  • Emma Watson as Hermione Granger - as i mentioned in my previous review, hermione is always my favorite character. i love how in Goblet of Fire, we kind of get to see another side of her, the more girly side. and her dress to the yule ball?? i would give all the money in the world to own a copy of that dress.

  • Robert Pattison as Cedric Diggory - sweet hufflepuff boy. he deserved so much better and got way too much unnecessary hate from the gryffindors. arguably, he is the most adorable character in the entire harry potter series. he was always kind, did the right thing, and was never rude or mean in literally any way.

  • Honorable Mention: David Tennant as Barty Crouch Jr. - not my favorite character, but tennant’s performance as crouch jr. went OFF. he’s an astounding actor.

This movie is rated PG-13. Here’s why:

  • Fantasy Violence

  • Frightening/Intense Sequences

Fun Fact: while filming hermione’s “cinderella moment” at the yule ball, emma watson actually tripped and fell during one of the takes. i know i said in my last review that i never related to anything more than tom felton’s pockets being sewn up so he wouldn’t steal food, but i think this one might top it.
